Before setting up WebChaver service on iPhones and iPads you need to know the following:
Screen Accountability only works from the Covenant Eyes app.
This app functions as a web browser, and you can use it the same way you use Safari. All activity performed within the app will be monitored with Screen Accountability (just like on all other devices). Click HERE to see how to set up our app as your default browser.
Activity on all other apps is not monitored by Screen Accountability (only domain monitoring).
We highly recommend setting up Screen Time (Apple's parental control settings) to lockout internet access from other apps. See below for instructions. Apps that are not locked out are only able to be watched by 'domain monitoring'. Read below how that works.
You need to set up Screen Time in order to prevent the Covenant Eyes app from being removed.
Unlike other devices, which require a code generated from your account in order to remove Covenant Eyes, we are not able to enforce this on iPhones and iPads. The only safeguard against removing the app is via the settings in Screen Time (in the instructions provided below, see the section on 'Disabling the Option to Install and/or Delete Apps').
Click on the following link for instructions on setting up Screen Time (according to your phone's operating system):
If you don't know your phone's operating system, click HERE for instructions to find it.
- Setting up Screen Time - iOS 14
- Setting up Screen Time - iOS 13
- Setting up Screen Time - iOS 12
- Setting up Restrictions - iOS 11 (and below)
Notice: For iOS 13.4 and up, make sure the user does not have the Apple ID password for the device, otherwise the user can override the Screen Time restrictions.
All other apps are watched by 'domain monitoring'.
When using any other app, we cannot provide our Screen Accountability service. However, we are able to provide domain monitoring. Any highly mature domain activity captured outside of our app will be reported under the “Mobile Background Data” section of our report. It’s helpful! But when compared to Screen Accountability, this isn’t the best or most effective form of accountability.
WebChaver internet filtering works on all apps.
Our additional filtering service functions across all apps, not just the Covenant Eyes app.
